Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer and songwriter for several years. Raised by her mother within the USA she was subject to a lot of racial taunts which gave her feeling of being a bit unpopular. After entering a ninth-grade school audition in which she received high praise for her voice and acoustics, she began to gain confidence. This not only increased her confidence but her ambitions transformed. When she was 22, she graduated from the New York's Julliard School. In the year 23 she started her professional career, making her first appearance on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. In the Broadway first production of Spamalot, she played The Lady of The Lake and won both the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. In the following year, when she was Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC the show, she received more appreciation. As a well-known singer, she also released a single and an extended version of her play. Additionally, she works as a LGBT activist.
