Lita Rossana Ford She was born in the United Kingdom and was an American singer, guitarist, and music writer. The latter half of the 1970s she was a lead guitar for the hard-rocking all-girl group The Runaways. The group did not have an enormous following within the United States. However, their popularity grew overseas and especially in Japan. Ford was able to enjoy a long and prosperous career as a solo heavy metal performer after the band split from 1979. After taking lessons in singing, she debuted her own solo album, 'Out For Blood'. This was followed by the release of her second album, 'Dancin' On The Edge'. Ford was absent from the scene for several years after the albums did not become popular. It was 1988 when Ford released her smash album "Lita".
